Do you know a local group, charity or nonprofit that could use Good Ways to share routes with its members, communities and wider audiences? Please share this page with them!
Visit almost any neighbourhood or village in the country and you’ll find groups with brilliant local routes to share, often backed by specialist knowledge of the area – from routes that are especially accessible, to ones that are great for enjoying nature or perfect for children.
But when we visit somewhere new, there still isn’t one go-to app or trusted place where we can easily find all these routes. This is especially true when thinking about people’s different needs, abilities, interests and ways of actively getting about.
While millions of people already use apps that are great for them, millions of others don’t.
You will know someone who is underserved by mainstream route apps – we want Good Ways to help them and everyone.
We have an ambitious vision: to make it possible for everyone to find the best available routes by enabling charities and nonprofits across the UK, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands to share great local routes, designed for both local people and visitors.
Individuals will be able to share routes on the new Good Ways app, and so will charities and nonprofits. Each organisation will have its own profile and personality on the platform.
Staff and volunteer members will be able to work together to draw and create routes people can trust, contribute local knowledge and reviews, and curate useful route collections and connected networks. Organisations will be able to design routes around the particular needs and interests of their communities, while also helping wider audiences discover their area.
Imagine if primary schools shared brilliant local circular routes for families to enjoy.
Imagine if local councils brought all their best routes together in one easy-to-find place.
Imagine if it was easy to find and follow routes designed by local heritage charities.
Imagine if groups with specialist knowledge of good ways for wheelchair users could share their routes through one unifying app.
That is the kind of connected, useful and inclusive route network we want Good Ways to make possible.
Why become a nonprofit Founder Member?
By joining Good Ways and using our new app, your organisation will be able to:
- Create and share trusted routes, drawing on the knowledge of your staff, volunteers and communities, and bringing them together into collections and networks for different places, interests, audiences and needs.
- Help shape Good Ways from the start, influencing how the app develops for your community, audiences and organisation.
- Build your organisation’s presence and reach, with a profile that reflects your work and personality while helping members, local communities and visitors discover your routes.
- Collaborate, enabling staff and volunteer members to contribute routes, local knowledge and reviews, and design routes around the needs, interests and abilities of your communities.
- Connect and align with other organisations, becoming part of a joined-up national collaboration, supporting others’ work and increasing your visibility by interacting with their routes and content.
Simply by being active on the same platform, organisations will become part of a more joined-up project – collaborating directly and indirectly, sharing knowledge and helping more people find good ways.
