Terms & Conditions

Last updated: July 2026

Welcome to Good Ways. These Terms and Conditions explain how membership works and form a legally binding agreement between you and us when you join.

We aim to be open, fair, and transparent. If anything is unclear, please contact us before joining.

1. ABOUT US

Good Ways is a trading name of Good Ways Network CIC (formerly Slow Ways CIC), a Community Interest Company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (company number 12800558).

Throughout these Terms, references to:

“Good Ways”

“we”, “us”, or “our”

“the platform”

mean the organisation operating the Good Ways platform.

We are a not-for-profit community interest company. Membership supports our work but does not provide ownership, equity, governance control, or financial rights.

2. THE GOOD WAYS PLATFORM

Good Ways is a platform for sharing, developing, and supporting active routes and networks.

The platform may include multiple channels, projects, and partner networks. These may include, but are not limited to Slow Ways, partner organisations or networks, themed route collections and community-created networks.

Channels, projects, and services may be added, removed, renamed, paused, merged, or restructured over time.

Membership applies to the platform as a whole rather than to any specific channel, project, feature or network.

These Terms and Conditions relate primarily to Good Ways membership and membership-related services.

Good Ways Network CIC also operates services and activities under other names, including Slow Ways. Some existing Slow Ways terms, contributor terms, community guidelines and policies apply to relevant activity across the wider Good Ways platform, particularly where members create, upload, review, edit, share or otherwise contribute routes, photographs, comments, surveys, feedback or other content.

Where those terms apply, references in them to Slow Ways should be understood as including the relevant Good Ways service, feature or activity operated by Good Ways Network CIC.

Additional terms, policies or guidelines may also apply to particular websites, apps, testing programmes, mapping tools, community features or other services. We will make these available or draw them to your attention where relevant.

3. MEMBERSHIP OVERVIEW

Membership supports the development and operation of the Good Ways platform and community.

Depending on your plan, membership may include:

  • news and updates
  • opportunities to provide feedback
  • invitations to events
  • early or priority access to features
  • discounts or promotional offers
  • recognition (where applicable)
  • access to the Good Ways website and app when available

Benefits vary by membership level.

Membership supports the project overall and does not guarantee that any particular feature, benefit, event, discount, or level of access will continue for any minimum period unless specifically stated otherwise.

4. ELIGIBILITY

To purchase or hold a membership, you must be at least 16 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract under the laws of England and Wales.

By purchasing a membership, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

If you are under 18, you confirm that you have the permission of a parent or legal guardian to enter into this agreement and to make any required payments.

We reserve the right to cancel a membership if we reasonably believe these eligibility requirements are not met.

5. DEVELOPMENT STATUS OF GOOD WAYS

The Good Ways website, app, and platform features are evolving and may still be under development.

By becoming a member, you acknowledge that:

  • launch dates are estimates only
  • features may change, be delayed, or not be released
  • early access may be phased or limited
  • some services may not yet exist
  • the platform may change substantially over time

Membership supports development and does not guarantee delivery of specific functionality by a particular date.

5A. TESTING AND EARLY ACCESS

From time to time, members may be invited to test early, experimental or unfinished versions of Good Ways websites, apps, features or services.

Testing versions may contain errors, change without notice, operate differently from the final service, or become temporarily or permanently unavailable. During testing, we may reset, alter, move, archive or delete accounts, routes, journeys, comments, photographs, feedback and other content or information entered into the test service. You should not rely on a testing version as the only place where important content is stored.

Testing may involve creating, reviewing, editing, sharing and improving routes and other content together with Good Ways and other members. As we develop the new Good Ways app and services, the relevant Slow Ways terms, contributor terms, community guidelines and policies apply to this activity as part of the wider Good Ways platform.

We may restrict or end testing access at any time. Participation in testing does not guarantee that any feature, account, route, contribution or other content will be retained, transferred to the live service, published, credited or included in the final version.

6. MEMBERSHIP PLANS AND PRICING

Membership plans and prices are displayed at the time of purchase.

Subscription memberships renew automatically unless cancelled.

Lifetime memberships are one-off payments (see Section 8).

We may change pricing for new members at any time. Existing subscribers will be notified in advance of price changes affecting renewals.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue membership plans at any time, although changes will not affect any active membership period already paid for unless required for legal, security, or operational reasons.

6A. COMMUNITY OFFERS AND FAIR USAGE

From time to time, Good Ways may offer community discounts, referral initiatives, founder offers, supporter rewards, vouchers, trial access, prize draws, or similar initiatives.

These initiatives are intended to support participation, community growth, and fundraising, and may be changed, paused, limited, or withdrawn over time as the platform evolves.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise:

  • offers may apply only to specific memberships, services, users, or time periods,
  • offers and discounts may not always be combined,
  • offers are non-transferable and have no cash value,
  • we may limit, suspend, or withdraw offers or rewards where we reasonably believe there has been misuse, abuse, fraudulent activity, automated activity, duplicate accounts, or activity contrary to the spirit of the initiative.

We may apply reasonable fair usage limits to help ensure these initiatives remain sustainable, fair, and community-focused.

7. MEMBERSHIP PLATFORM PROVIDER

Membership accounts, subscription management, and payment processing are provided through Paid Memberships Pro, a membership management platform.

By purchasing or managing a membership, you also agree to comply with Paid Memberships Pro’s terms of service and policies.

Paid Memberships Pro processes payments and certain personal data on our behalf to operate your membership account. This processing is subject to our Privacy Policy and Paid Memberships Pro’s own privacy practices.

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. By making a payment, you agree to their applicable terms and privacy policies.

Our website and membership systems may also rely on third-party hosting, plugins, integrations, and technical service providers.

We are not responsible for technical failures, outages, or service interruptions caused by third-party providers, including Paid Memberships Pro, hosting providers, plugin providers, or payment processors, although we will make reasonable efforts to help resolve issues where possible.

Privacy Policy

Good Ways membership is operated by Good Ways Network CIC. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data across our services, including Good Ways membership and accounts managed through Paid Memberships Pro.

8. PAYMENTS AND RENEWALS

Subscriptions renew automatically at the stated interval unless cancelled before renewal.

You may manage, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your membership through your account.

Failure to pay may result in suspension or termination of membership.

Cancelling a subscription prevents future renewals but does not automatically entitle you to a refund for the current billing period unless required by law.

9. LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP

Lifetime membership means membership for the duration of:

  • your lifetime, and
  • the operational lifetime of the Good Ways platform or the organisation operating it

whichever ends first.

Lifetime membership:

  • is non-transferable unless explicitly agreed
  • does not include premium paid services, including premium maps, unless stated
  • may be withdrawn if membership rules are seriously breached

If the organisation operating Good Ways ceases operations, lifetime membership ends.

10. NONPROFIT AND FOUNDER STATUS

Membership supports the mission and work of the organisation.

Membership does not:

  • provide ownership or equity
  • create governance rights
  • create employment or advisory status
  • guarantee influence over decisions

We may invite feedback and participation, but all decisions remain with the organisation.

11. MEMBER BENEFITS

Benefits such as discounts, vouchers, early access, testing opportunities, recognition, and events are discretionary, are not guaranteed, and may be limited, varied, changed, suspended, or withdrawn at any time as the platform develops.

Membership does not include premium maps, credits, or third-party services unless explicitly stated.

12. CANCELLATION AND COOLING-OFF RIGHTS

If you are a UK consumer, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of purchase for a full refund unless you have requested or accessed substantial membership benefits, digital content, services, or member-only access during that period.

After the cooling-off period:

  • subscriptions continue until the end of the billing period
  • payments are generally non-refundable

Lifetime memberships are refundable only within the cooling-off period unless required by law.

13. GIFT MEMBERSHIPS

Gift memberships are subject to these Terms.

The purchaser is responsible for correct recipient details.

Once redeemed, the membership is treated as a normal membership and is non-refundable except where required by law.

14. CHANGES TO SERVICES OR BENEFITS

We may modify, expand, reduce, or restructure the platform, its channels, or membership benefits.

We will act reasonably and aim to provide reasonable notice where practical.

Membership supports the project as a whole rather than any specific feature or structure.

15. MEMBER CONDUCT

Members must use the platform respectfully and lawfully.

We may suspend or terminate membership for:

  • misuse of services
  • abusive behaviour
  • fraudulent activity
  • breach of these Terms
  • activity that may harm the platform, community, or reputation of Good Ways

No refund will be given where termination results from serious breach.

16. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Intellectual property rights in the Good Ways platform, its services, branding and materials remain with Good Ways Network CIC or the relevant rights holder, unless stated otherwise.

Membership does not grant ownership rights.

Members may not reproduce, redistribute, commercially exploit, or misuse platform content except where explicitly permitted by us or by applicable open licences.

By submitting, posting, uploading, suggesting, or sharing content, feedback, ideas, routes, comments, images, reviews, or other materials through the platform, you grant Good Ways, its partners, service providers, members, and users a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, share, modify, distribute, and commercially use that content in connection with the Good Ways platform and related activities.

You confirm that you have the right to share any content you submit.

Good Ways develops many ideas, projects, and features internally and through community collaboration. Submitting feedback, ideas, or suggestions does not create confidentiality obligations, ownership rights, compensation rights, or any expectation that ideas are new, unique, credited, or implemented.

That said, we work in a highly collaborative way and do want to encourage the sharing of knowledge and ideas. Where appropriate we will credit and reference contributions and develop tools that enable that to happen at scale.

17. DATA PROTECTION

We process personal data in accordance with applicable UK data protection laws, including UK GDPR, and our Privacy Policy.

18. LIABILITY

We provide services with reasonable care but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from membership or use of the platform is limited to the amount paid by you for membership during the previous 12 months.

Nothing excludes liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.

19. TERMINATION OF PLATFORM OR ORGANISATION

If the organisation operating Good Ways closes, merges, or transfers operations to a successor entity, memberships may end or transfer accordingly.

Where reasonably possible, we will notify members in advance.

20. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms from time to time.

Continued use of the platform or continued membership after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

21. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
